While we are on the subject of art...

Have you ever gotten the opportunity to see any of Ron Mueck's sculptures? Of all of the art that Stone and I have seen this exhibit sticks out in my head the most. We saw his work at the Modern Art Museum in Ft. Worth (which now has a huge Andy Warhol exhibit, oh, how I wish I could be there to go!).

Ron Mueck has made an art out of sculpting the human body with all of the minute details that are easily overlooked. He includes hair follicles, veins, wrinkles, etc. and he either miniaturizes people or he makes them larger than life... I mean HUGE.

Museums.

When Stone and I first started dating he had never really been to any legit museums... I specifically remember taking him to the Dallas Museum of Art and he walked up to a Picasso and stood for about 10 minutes in disbelief of what he was actually seeing. Stone was already into art, film, design and photography so I found it odd that he had gone that long in life without seeing famous works. 

Anyway, since that first visit we have been going to art museums whenever we have the chance. We both prefer modern, and Stone also has an affinity of art from the Old West (he has a thing about horses and cowboys). Here are a few shots from out last visit to the Denver Art Museum, their modern collection is great, some of it is extremely out there.

Design inspiration for the outdoors.

Stone and I started on one of our favorite projects of the year... making our patio beautiful again! Last year we had so much fun picking out pots and plants and growing our own herbs. However, we never got around to getting any outdoor furniture because the things we wanted all seemed too expensive.

Well, this year I was on a mission! And, it was a success.

We found these retro metal chairs at Lowes for $39! They were exactly what we wanted... now you will have to ask Stone about the assembly, I was not here to watch it happen and he said it took hours. I dont know if that is a comment on the difficulty of how they are assembled or a comment on my husband's abilities : )

Anyway, I am still wanting to dress up the patio more and I found a few things to add to our wish list.

This weekend is going to be a busy one for us. Tomorrow we head to Fort Collins for a family photo shoot (we are hoping it does not rain!). Then Sunday I am assisting with a wedding here in Boulder with Save the Date Events, which I am super excited about. And, hopefully at some point we will find time to go on a bike ride or two : )

Wisconsin brie, crispy bacon, and hash browns all with a fried egg on french toast.

My brother-in-law's choice: Sandwich #25 'The Big Sal'

Wisconsin asiago, fresh mozzarella, Italian sausage and roasted red pepper and onion on ciabatta bread.

My Choice: Sandwich # 21 'The Domonique'

Wisconsin gorgonzola, parmesan, grilled chicken breast, cranberries and arugula smothered in a walnut pesto.

Oh, and did I mention they have dessert sandwiches too? (Yes, you heard me right)

Travel: Ace Hotel in Palm Springs

I first saw photos of this hotel on a few wedding blogs. The Ace Hotel in Palm Springs has become a popular place for weddings and events because of it's unique and trendy atmosphere. I love all of the retro design elements as well, the pool area looks like something straight out of the 70s, it would be such a fun location for a photo shoot (or even more so, for vacation!). And going to Palm Springs does not sound too shabby either : )

We joined a gym today.

It helped the decision process a little that the gym has a eucalyptus steam room (so amazing)!

Quote from my husband tonight as I was giving him a hug "Don't get too used to this, in a few weeks my body won't feel as comfortable". Oh, how I love him... and can't wait to get matching six packs (is that too much to ask for?)!

When did 'the moustache' become popular again?

I must have missed the trend alert, but every where I look there are boys and men alike sporting some serious moustaches. It is not just hipsters either (I feel like a grandma when I say the word 'hipster') it is everyone. To tell you the truth I am not a huge fan, from a girl's perspective they are itchy and collect food, not so attractive. We'll just hope this trend does not last too long!

This French clothing company has the cutest clothes for little ones. NOT that I will be in the market for children's clothing for a good while, I just thought I would pass along  : ) 

Let's go fly a kite.

The weather today was gorgeous. It was definitely hard to be indoors all day working...

I called Stone from work today to make plans for when we got home, we decided we needed to be outside. Question was should we go on a run, a bike ride or try out the new kite that Stone bought? When I got home from work the kite had been assembled and was sitting on the kitchen table ready to go... question answered.

We took it out behind our house (we are lucky enough to have a bike/running trail, a creek, baseball fields and some open space back there) to the open field and tried to get that kite in the air, we tried again... and again... and again. No luck. Turns out you should invest more than $2 into your kites if you want them to actually fly (we threw it in the trash). But it was nice to be outside for a bit, and enjoy the fresh air and beautiful weather with my husband!
